I have only been to a few concerts, but I really treasure and immensely enjoyed Simon and Garfunkle. It was a very enjoyable evening that transported me back to a whole different place and time, a real blast from the past and soooooooooooooo fun!

Dang...I have five.

1) For the wholeness of the experience...Laurie Anderson at Town Hall in NYC the weekend after 9/11. Walking the ghost town that was Manhattan to the theater was beyond description. She dedicated the show to the event. Sitting in that old rickety theater and hearing her was bone chilling.

2) Seeing my idol David Bowie for the first time.

3) Joe Cocker at Music Midtown Atlanta in 2002. I don't think I have been driven to tears like that at a concert ever.

4) Thievery Corporation in 2003. They brought 13 world artist acts from all over the planet...from every continent with them. The beats, the soul, the heart...the light show and visuals...and the fellowship that thewy generated in the audience. Just singular and amazing.

5) Nina Simone at the Chastain Ampitheatre in 2001. One of last concerts of her life. She was weak, and had to sit down between each song. Her love and passion set the stage onfire still.

An Elvis concert in Champaign, Illinois, back in October, 1976, was the most exciting concert I ever attended. Although he was heavy and in bad health by then, his voice was as strong and wonderful as it was back in the fifties. He put on a great show and sang his heart out. Amazing!

The Who performing Quadrophenia in 1997 ...or Pink Floyd doing the Dark Side of the Moon in 1975 or Bob Marley and the Wailers in 1976 or Stevie Ray Vaughan in 1985 or maybe it was Santana in 1978 or that week in May 1977 where I followed the Grateful Dead around in upstate New York and Massachusetts...

It's a toss up between Gladys Knight and the Pips back in the late 70s..early 80s or The Trans Siberian Orchestra two years ago.

In my younger days, I went to see a Captain and Tenille concert. Their warm up act was Kenny Rogers about 6 months before Lucille skyrocketed him to stardom.

Does the Willie Nelson picnic count?I went 5 years in a row in the late 70's and early 80's.I was still drinking back then and it was alot of fun.If that doesn't count then it has to be Gene Watson in Atlanta in 98.Great question!

A jewish Christian evangelist named Paul Wilbur playing in a friend's small church instead of the large auditoriums he usually does- great music and very intimate.
